Texture Urban and mystical

I often notice the texture around me. The marked concrete in the city with it's scratches and layers of color made by wear. The other texture that interests me is more ethereal. The texture of fog and mist suggesting hidden images! I am fascinated by the mysterious beauty of life that seems to be so obvious  yet so hidden. I seek out that beauty in my art weather it is in a scraped piece of concrete or a certain expression i see in a face. Beauty is beauty no matter where you find it. It is everywhere! Perhaps art is a place that we can celebrate it! When words fail then art speaks its language of line and color!

Lately i have tried to incorporate this texture in my faces. A sample of some of the results:

"A Turn In The Road"

I have always been attracted to abstract art! One day while laying down some color to get started on one of my regular paintings i decided to free myself of image and let the color and line be the story! There is a lot to learn in abstraction. It is like learning a new language. These are a few of my first words!

Getting My Groove Back!

The room I am typing in is as hot and steamy as a sauna so I will be brief. Pant pant sweat sweat! So sorry my brain is cooked! Had a good week exploring with paint! I find using the face as a starting point  is a good way to begin. There is so much to learn in the painting of a face and so much to explore I feel as though I have just scratched the surface. A few scratches I made this week!

What Ever Happenned To Free And Easy? July4/11

July is here and so is the heat and humidity! Our Garden looks promising and there are a few very small tomatoes starting! My daughter and i planted a small garden and are always on the look out for each new development.
I painted up a storm this weekend.
Here is a sample of some of the finished pieces.
These pieces are mostly narrative. I have 3 cats and am very fond of them. They always provide some sort of inspiration. I seem to have lost my earlier free and easy way of painting . Perhaps if I stop looking so hard it will find me again. I love it when everything just seems to happen and one thing leads to another. These recent paintings are more hesitant and less free. But it is all part of a process and there is always something to discover.
